Went and opened my google home app and sure enough the little bar was back at the top saying I had a smart bulb to set up. After lots of pissed off googling and factory resetting both my Google nest mini and Philips hue bulb I could not get my google app to find the damn light bulb.įinally I factory reset the bulb and instead of setting it up in my Philips hue app like I had been doing I just closed the app after factory resetting it. I still had it paired but when I asked it to turn it on or off via voice or the app nothing. I read up and found that when the light bulbs need a firmware update Google won't be able to control them so I went to my philips hue app and checked on my light bulb and sure enough it needed an update so I did that update and then Google couldn't control it. This morning when I told google to turn my living room lamp on nothing. I could control the bulb with both my Google Nest mini, google home app and the Philips hue bt app. Then I read a little further about the Philip's Hue BT app so I downloaded that connected the bulb to that app and it was easy going again. I renamed it lamp added it to my living room and I was on my way. I clicked this went through the steps and easy as they say the bulb connected.

I pulled up my google home app and immediately there was a little notification at the top to set up new smart bulb. Yesterday when I got my Philips hue Bt bulb I screwed it into the lamp in the same room as my google nest mini. I just had the exact same issue and this is what happened to me and how I fixed it.
